3T (3ttt) · ref Competizione (Merckx, Gimondi and TdF bends) · 1970s – 1990s
Competizione was 3ttt's main road racing drop bar, sold in several bends rather than as a single shape. Velobase lists a Merckx bend, a Gimondi bend, a Tour de France (TdF) version and a track version, all with a 26.0 mm center clamp. Velobase dates the Merckx bend from the 1970s to the late 1980s, and one owner reports buying one new in 1995. Markings are the clearest guide: typical bars carry the 3ttt logo inside a wreath on one sleeve and Olympic rings with the Competizione model name and Made in Italy on the other, and Velobase notes Gimondi bars marked Gimondi and the width near the clamp. Recorded widths are 40, 42, 43 and 44 cm for the Merckx and Gimondi bends and 38 to 43 cm for the TdF. Finishes recorded include polished, anodized and satin gunmetal anodized. Because the clamp is 26.0 mm, the Italian standard listed by Sheldon Brown, the bar pairs with 3ttt stems and other 26.0 mm stems; in a 26.4 mm Cinelli stem it will not clamp securely without a shim. It is a sound choice for an Italian build that is not trying to be all-Cinelli.
Buying guide
About 103 listings turn up for this search, and most Competizione bars run $110–180 delivered; one seller has a run of NOS Merckx-bend bars at $150 with free shipping, while used bars start under $50. Prioritise a stated 26.0 mm clamp and a bend you can identify from the sleeve markings (Merckx, Gimondi or TdF), and measure the width across the drops yourself. Inspect the clamp area and bends for notches or creases, don't put one in a 26.4 mm Cinelli stem without a shim, and skip the $319 "rare" NOS bar from a 97.3% seller.
$44.10est. delivered
The lowest delivered price at about $44 with Best Offer from a 99.9% seller. The catch: the title gives a 25.4 mm clamp and 395 mm width rather than the usual 26.0 mm, so measure it and match your stem before you offer.

$47.67est. delivered
A 42 cm Competizione for about $48 delivered with Best Offer from a 100% seller, well under the $110–180 band. The title doesn't give the clamp size or bend, so ask for a photo of the sleeve markings and a clamp measurement.

About $319 delivered, roughly twice the typical price, from a 97.3% seller with an unproven NOS claim; the $150 NOS bars are better buys.
