Groupset · 1966–1987
Nuovo Record is the Campagnolo group of the late 1960s through the mid 1980s. Its centrepiece is the 1020/A aluminium rear derailleur, introduced around 1966, which Disraeli Gears says dominated road racing for 16 years. Around it sit the 1049 Record Strada crankset with its 144 mm bolt circle, the 2040 single-pivot side-pull brakes with 2030 levers, Record friction down-tube shifters, the Record front derailleur and Record high- and low-flange hubs. Everything is built for friction shifting and 5- or 6-speed freewheels. Many parts carry dating marks. The rear derailleur's b-knuckle stamp runs from 'PATENT' through 'PATENT-70' to 'PATENT-79' and 'PAT.80' to 'PAT.84'; crank arms carry a stamped year code from 1973; and brakes and hubs switched to curved quick-release levers in 1978. Matching those dates is the main task when assembling a period-correct group from eBay listings.
