Groupset · 1992–1994
Chorus arrived in 1988 as the group just below Record. The first version used the C010 rear derailleur and a 706/101 crank, and was designed for Campagnolo's Syncro shifting. The pieces in this catalogue belong to the second generation, released in 1991 and often called Chorus RS: the RD-01CH rear derailleur and FC-01CH crankset, both dated 1992–1994 by Velobase. This is the group that brought Chorus to 8-speed index shifting with Ergopower brake and shift levers, which appeared in Campagnolo's 1992 catalogue. The crank uses a 135 mm bolt circle, so inner rings go down to 39 teeth, and the bottom bracket is square taper in English or Italian thread. The cassette is Campagnolo 8-speed, which uses a different spline from later 9- and 10-speed Campagnolo, so hub and cassette need to match. On used Ergopower levers, plan on replacing the G springs.
