Groupset · 1973–1987
Super Record was introduced in 1973 as Campagnolo's lighter top group. Much of it shares its design with Nuovo Record. Disraeli Gears says the 4001 rear derailleur uses the same knuckles and alloy as the Nuovo Record, with titanium for the two large pivot bolts and a bigger flange on the pulley cage. The 1052/SR front derailleur is the Nuovo Record unit trimmed in black, the 4061 brakes are the same single-pivot side-pull with small changes, and the bottom bracket has a titanium spindle in aluminium cups. The most visible Super Record part is the drilled 4062 brake lever. Velobase lists a 1049/A Strada crank under Super Record, but collectors debate whether it differs from the Nuovo Record crank. Because so much is shared, a listing called Super Record can be part Nuovo Record. Check the derailleur's b-knuckle stamp and plate style, the brake lever drilling and the bottom bracket spindle before paying for the name.
