Campagnolo · ref RD-01CH · 1992–1994
Part of the Campagnolo Chorus 8-speed groupset.
The RD-01CH is the Chorus rear derailleur from Campagnolo's 8-speed index era. Velobase dates it 1992–1994 and places it in the second-generation, C-Record-era Chorus group (often called Chorus RS) released in 1991. It is a short-cage, slant-parallelogram aluminium derailleur rated for a 26-tooth largest cog and 26 teeth of total capacity, and it works with Campagnolo 8-speed index shifters or with friction levers. Disraeli Gears notes a double parallelogram spring, sprung upper and lower pivots, and pulleys on Campagnolo's usual plain bushings rather than ball bearings. Two styles exist; the early one has a polished cast inner cage plate with no spoke deflector. This is not the earlier 1988–1991 Chorus derailleur (C010-SM short cage and C010-LG long cage), which was designed for the Syncro shifting system and has much larger capacity, so check which one a listing actually shows.
Buying guide
About 198 listings turn up, but the search also catches other Chorus generations, including the 1988–91 C010 built for Syncro shifting; most 8-speed examples run $85–160 delivered. Prioritise titles that say 8-speed and short cage or date it to 1992–94, ask for photos that confirm the RD-01CH, and check the pulleys for wobble and both pivot springs for a firm return. Plan on a Campagnolo 8-speed cassette with a 26-tooth or smaller largest cog, and treat NOS-in-box claims near $350 with caution unless the box is photographed.
