Mavic · ref GP4 · 1970s – 1990s (red-label version 1970s to early 1980s; later label from the late 1980s)
The GP4 is a Mavic aluminum tubular (sew-up) rim for 700c racing wheels. Velobase documents two generations: an early red-label GP4 with a gold-foil label, dated to the 1970s and early 1980s, and a later-label version from the late 1980s into the 1990s. Both are hard-anodized, a dark grey finish, about 20 mm wide, with double eyelets and Presta valve drilling, and Velobase lists an effective rim diameter (ERD) of 615 mm for both. Recorded drillings are 24, 28, 32 and 36 holes, with 40 holes also listed for the red-label rim, and documented weights sit around 400 g. Later labels carry the code 'EMR7' and mention stainless steel eyelets. A tubular rim has a shallow, hookless bed: the tire is glued on, so a GP4 cannot hold a clincher tire. That makes it a rim for riders who want a period racing wheel and are prepared to glue tubulars; it is a natural match for 1970s and 1980s Campagnolo high- or low-flange hubs. Listings sometimes attach other Mavic model names to the GP4, so go by the printed label in the photos rather than the listing title.
Buying guide
About 106 listings turn up, mixing single rims and pairs, so check the quantity before comparing prices; single rims mostly run $65–170 delivered. The GP4 is a 700c (622 mm) tubular rim, so it only takes glued-on sew-up tyres, never clinchers, and you should plan to clean old glue off the bed before mounting new tubulars. Match the hole count to your hub (24 to 36, and 40 on the early red-label rim), and look for brake tracks worn through the grey anodizing or a dished sidewall. Treat 'NOS' claims as unproven until you see box or packaging photos.

The lowest delivered price here, and it's a pair: two 700c 36-hole rims for $48 with free shipping, about $24 a rim, from a 99.9% seller. Check the brake tracks and eyelets in the photos, since the title says nothing about condition.
