Shimano · ref RD-7402 · 1988–1996
Part of the Shimano Dura-Ace 7400 groupset.
The RD-7402 is the 8-speed rear derailleur of the Dura-Ace 7400 era. Disraeli Gears dates it to 1988 and calls it an extensive redesign of the earlier 7400 and 7401, with changes to nearly every part: a concealed lower pivot, a spring-loaded click on the barrel adjuster, a 5 mm Allen cable clamp and a dial for adjusting parallelogram spring tension. The outer cage plate is printed "Integrated 8 SIS" and the model number 7402 is stamped on the body. It takes a 26-tooth largest sprocket with 26 teeth of total capacity, so it suits close-ratio racing gearing rather than wide touring ranges. The one compatibility rule that matters: before the 1997 7700 group, Dura-Ace derailleurs moved less per click than other Shimano road derailleurs, so a 7402 indexes correctly only with Dura-Ace 7400-era 8-speed levers, either down-tube SIS or early STI. Disraeli Gears shows a second style with a bulge at the tension pulley and a tab on the inner plate, and an example dated 1996, so the design ran right up to 7700.
Buying guide
About 175 listings turn up and the RD-7402 is plentiful, with most units selling for $45–70 delivered. Check that 7402 is stamped on the body and "Integrated 8 SIS" is on the cage, since 7400 and 7401 are 6- and 7-speed parts. It only indexes with Dura-Ace 7400-era 8-speed levers, not 600 or 105 shifters, and takes a 26-tooth largest sprocket. With this much supply, there's no reason to pay over $100 for an ordinary used one.

Heads-up: priced high
At about $256 this is over four times the median, with nothing in the title to justify it.
